Customer Challenge

Soci-Com set out to develop an electric pedal-assisted cargo bike that not only meets high standards of safety, usability, and design, but also supports its broader social mission: helping people with a distance to the labor market reintegrate into society through meaningful work.

The challenge was to design and industrialize a distinctive cargo bike that is compact, stable, and practical for everyday use - while ensuring it could be assembled entirely within Soci-Com’s social production environment. The bike needed to be suitable for families, urban mobility, and professional applications, without compromising on sustainability or ease of use.

Result

The soci.bike cargo bike was successfully developed and launched, delivering strong results on multiple levels:

• A safe and stable electric cargo bike with two slightly angled front wheels for superior balance.
• A compact design that fits through a standard doorway, ideal for storage at home.
• A spacious and versatile cargo box suitable for children, pets, luggage, and commercial use.
• A product that actively contributes to social reintegration by being assembled exclusively at Soci-Com.
• Positive user feedback on comfort, handling, and the overall sense of purpose behind the product.

Applied Technology

• Electric Pedal Assistance: Ensures effortless riding, even with heavy loads, headwinds, or hills.
• Lightweight EPP Cargo Box: Shock-absorbing, durable, and fully recyclable.
• Three-Wheel Configuration: Two front wheels positioned at a slight angle for enhanced stability and safety.
• Modular Accessories: Optional rain cover, box cover, child seats, safety belts, and configurations for commercial use.
• Front Access Door: Allows easy loading and unloading - more convenient than a car in many urban scenarios.

TSG Contribution

TSG Group partnered with Soci-Com to support the full design, development, and industrialization of the soci.bike cargo bike. Starting from the core values fair, sustainable, and social, our team developed multiple design concepts for the distinctive cargo bin and overall bike architecture.

We translated these concepts into a final design that is safe, visually appealing, and highly practical for daily use. TSG provided expertise in product design, mechanical engineering, and production readiness - ensuring the bike could be efficiently assembled within Soci-Com’s social workshop environment.

The result is a cargo bike for everyone who wants to ride safely, comfortably, and with a good feeling - whether navigating city streets, cycling along the dike, or transporting children, dogs, or goods. A bike designed from real-world practice, with real social impact.
